Write SEO-Friendly Content With These Tips
In life, we are constantly in a battle between creativity and business. The creative mind that is able to see possibilities where others do not can be the difference-maker when it comes to getting ahead or falling behind. Yet the very same creativity that drives us forward is often held back by business-minded decisions – like how we should rank for search engines. This article will provide tips on how you can make your content more SEO-friendly so that it ranks higher in Google!
What is SEO and why should you care?
SEO stands for search engine optimization. It is a set of guidelines that have been developed to ensure that your content is well optimized for search engines, like Google. SEO can, via good content creation, help make it easier for people to find your website when searching on Google. If someone looking for Canadian immigration services searches using the keyword “Canada immigration” and your website ranks higher than all of the other ones they see on the first page of results, then you are more likely to get their attention and get them to visit your site.
Also, as mentioned before, it is not just about getting your site ranked high; it is also about you getting more business. If someone searches for “Canada immigration” and finds this website but they find a different one that looks better to them or has more information, they will most likely choose the other one.
So how do you stay ahead of the competition? By doing SEO right! You can get ahead of your competitors when it comes to search engine optimization by knowing what strategies to use and following them correctly. There are a few things that fall into SEO (or on-page SEO) which we will cover in this article, beginning with keyword density.
Headings and keyword density
Keyword density is important because if your text does not have enough keywords within it, it could lower the website’s rank within search results. The keyword density is about having enough of your target keywords present so that Google knows what your content is all about.
Keyword density should be between 4-10%. For example, if your keyword is “Canada immigration”, you would want to have at least 10 words in the body of your text that include this keyword. You do not want to go over when it comes to keyword density or else you could end up with penalties against you by Google since their algorithms will think that there are too many ads on your site rather than just good content. However, if you only have 4% of a specific word then Google will also assume that there isn’t a lot of information and will lower your site’s rank.
Be sure to use your keywords in the title of your web page, meta description tag, H1 headings, and title tags as well. These are all things that search engines like Google look at when deciding where your site should rank for a particular keyword or phrase.
Links from other websites
Just like having too many ads can lead to penalties against you by Google, so too can having no links from other websites pointing back to yours. When someone clicks on links leading back to another website (from social media sites, from forums…) they will be redirected to the pages which have been linked to. This is what is known as off-page SEO since it does not happen within the confines of your article but outside of it.
Links within the article are known as on-page SEO since they happen within your page, not outside of it like off-page links. Having on-page links to other relevant sites is an important part of making sure that Google sees you as a good website for visitors to end up at when searching with their search engine rather than some spammy site.
It is best if you link out to other websites from pages that have been created specifically for this purpose, and it is also suggested that you only link out to related content on another site. If someone finds content about Canadian immigration on your site and they click the link to visit another blog about immigration in Canada, then there is a greater chance that they will be interested in what you have to say since they are already interested in that particular subject.
‘Link wheels’ and blog comments
When using links within your content, you should make sure to link out to other websites as well. This will allow you to get more backlinks which will help with the search engine optimization of your site. However, it is best if you put these links towards the bottom of each page rather than at the top (or middle) so that they do not distract from what you are trying to convey in your article. Also, be sure that any links coming into your website or page from another website(s) is related or useful information for visitors; otherwise, Google may see this as a type of black-hat SEO where people use spammy links to increase their rank. Links need to be from other sites that are legitimate or else you could end up getting penalized because Google sees them as more ads when they should just be informational links.
SEO can be a complex process, but it’s crucial for any business that wants to succeed online. The good news is the steps are not difficult to follow and they don’t take much time or money. It all starts with understanding what SEO actually means, which we have covered in this post.
